Dipole test probes from INGUN enable a four-pole measurement to determine the electrical resistance of a component precisely and efficiently.
The four-pole measuring method is often used to measure the electrical resistance of a device under test. It is particularly suitable for measuring (very) low resistance values where precise results are required. The four-pole measurement method is mainly used in automotive and cable production as well as in the high current sector.
The use of INGUN dipole test probes offers numerous advantages:

How the four-pole measurement method works
The four-pole measurement uses a pair of voltage-measuring and current-carrying contacts. The current-carrying contacts (force connection) introduce the defined measuring current, the leads running inside (sense connection) measure the voltage drop on the device under test. Consequently, the electrical resistance can be calculated according to Ohm's law.
Testing vehicle batteries with the four-pole measurement method
The four-wire measurement is also used in the production of battery cells for electric vehicles to detect faulty cells in good time. In this process, the batteries, which consist of several individual elements, are comprehensively tested, because each battery cell must have a constant voltage - this is the only way to ensure the performance of the entire unit.
With dipole test probes from INGUN these tests can be carried out reliably with optimal use of space. The specialised design ensures that only two, rather than four, individual contact probes have to be connected, resulting in optimal contacting: The voltage can be measured at the contact surfaces, allowing the resistance to be determined exactly. A measurement set-up with four conventional test probes, on the other hand, would take more time. Due to the limited space available, significantly less current could flow through the conductor. In addition, the installation of the test probes would be much more demanding.
Installing the INGUN dipole test probes
In order to be able to install and remove the dipole test probes more quickly in case of maintenance, they should be used with a compatible receptacle. We also recommend using the appropriate INGUN tool for installation.
